Durmitor is a mountain and national park in Montenegro. The highest peak is Bobotov kuk, 2,522 meters high. The name Durmitor is thought to be derived from the Celtic words “dru mi tore” meaning “mountain full of water.” The areas of Durmitor, a rare and authentic work of nature in terms of beauty and integrity, were declared a National park in 1952.
Located in the northwest of Montenegro, the park includes the basic massif of Durmitor with the canyons of Tara, Draga and Sušica and the upper part of the canyon valley of Komarnica, occupying the area of 39,000 ha.
The ascent to the top of Prutaš (2393 m) starts from Todorovo dol and is quite direct and steep. The top itself is spacious and very pleasant for a break. There is no view of Škrčko Lake from it, so for this unusual view of paradise you need to go a few hundred meters northeast to the top that is located just above them. The approach to that peak is an easy walk along the vast meadows of the Prutaš peak ridge. From the top there is the most beautiful view of Bobotov Kuk as well as the entire western part of the Žabljak plateau. The Maglić massif can be seen very nicely.

Prutaš is an exceptional peak, not only in comparison with the neighboring peaks on Durmitor, but also wider, on the territory of Montenegro. It is adorned with gentle ridge lines, green mountain sides, miraculous oblique layers of “Rods” after which it was named, cliffs of vertically elevated layers, but also typical “hard rocks”. If a peak on our mountains can be synonymous with a pleasant ascent and enjoyment of the magical high mountain environment, then it is certainly Prutaš.
