Lovćen

Lovćen is one of the most important symbols of Montenegro. It is located in the southwestern part of the country. The two highest peaks are Stirovnik (1,749 m) and Jezerski vrh (1,657 m).What Montenegrins are proud to point out when it comes to Lovcen is the mausoleum of Njegos erected in honor of Peter the Second Petrovic Njegos, poet and ruler of Montenegro. The Njegos Mausoleum is located on Jezerski vrh, the place that Njegos has chosen for his eternal rest.To reach the famous mausoleum, we cross a 20km long road from Cetinje, and then 461 stairs remain to the top of the mountain.
