Lovćen is one of the most important symbols of Montenegro. It is located in the southwestern part of the country. The two highest peaks are Stirovnik (1,749 m) and Jezerski vrh (1,657 m). What Montenegrins are proud to point out when it comes to Lovćen is the mausoleum of Njegoš, erected in honor of Peter the Second Petrović Njegoš, poet and ruler of Montenegro. The Njegoš Mausoleum is located on Jezerski vrh, the place that Njegoš chose for his eternal rest. To reach the famous mausoleum, we travel a 20 km long road from Cetinje, and then 461 stairs remain to the top of the mountain.
